Richlands is a railway station in the suburb of Richlands on the Springfield line. The rail extension to Richlands is the first step in the progressive construction of the Springfield line to Springfield.
Construction started on the station on 1 July 2008 with an cost of $40 million.[2] The planning included about 650 car parks, a bus interchange, bicycle lockers and a drop-off area. The station is expected to be completed by 2011, along side the first stage of the Springfield line.[3]
The station was due to open to the public on 23 January 2011 with no services due to scheduled maintenance works on the Ipswich line,[2] but due to the Queensland floods the opening was brought forward to 17 January 2011 in order to assist with the recovery efforts.[1]
